Yoshimi

Going to blog about Yoshimi Japanese Restaurant at Warisan Square today, I've been there once zillion of years before but didn't think too much about them at that time. However this time's visit manages to impress us, I have a feeling we'll be returning here again in the future. Every restaurant deserves a second chance, this is certainly true. You may recognize a distinguished pattern whenever we visit Japanese restaurant, we can't help but order the same things no matter where we go, but it's a good thing as we can compare around and I noticed that some food are cooked the same way, some are not. I prefer to order individual dishes to go with rice and miso soup rather than order a set, that way we could try out a greater variety of dishes.

I love the floating paper lanterns

My favorite: Butter fish Sashimi RM30

Thick slices of Sashimi
Melt in your mouth goodness, yums.
California Temaki RM 13.50 for 3

Shake Temaki RM13.50

Raw Oysters RM20 for 3
Maybe my expectations were too high, it wasn't as good as I thought they would be.

Gyu Niku RM24
Yummy grilled beef cubes with hints of buttery flavor, well marinated, nice textures, I am hungry now! Rawr!
Grilled Kaki RM22
Plump, sweet, juicy oysters grilled to perfection with hints of garlic.

Dopin Mushi RM12
Soup in a tea pot, this is a must order whenever I dined in Japanese Restaurants. This is a sweet, clear broth with lots of ingredients inside such as mushrooms, fish slices, prawns, chicken and more. I don't remember if a quails egg is part of the combination at Yoshimi, but it has always been my favorite. Quails eggs, tiny and perfect, with melty yolk center.... did I just moaned aloud?
Sometimes I find it quite tedious to refill the tiny cup for a mouthful of soup, I wish I could pour it from the spout straight in my mouth, that would be very bad manners, I'm sure. Dream on.
Gindara Shyaki RM30
Salt grilled cod fish, absolutely yums. The salt is not overpowering, I'm not too fond of sweet sauce drenching my fish, salt grilled is just perfect. Add a squeeze of lemon and it's good to eat.

Zaru Soba RM14
Cold green tea noodles to be dipped in a sauce and eaten with toasted sesame seeds and a raw quails egg.

Miso soup  RM3

Just ordinary miso soup

Shake Bento RM22

Breaded fish

Tempura vegetables
The entire bill comes up to RM250.25 for 5 diners, drinks are hot/cold Ocha RM1 per person, it's refillable, and 3 gohan (rice) for RM2.50 each.

Miso Japanese Restaurant 3

Its a new month again, time really does flies, doesn't it. I'm now in my third month of blogging, I must keep this up. I hoped you won't get bored with Japanese Food, cause here is another one again. We were too fond of Japanese and Korean food, I must persuade my family to try other types of food. (Psst, there is at least one more Japanese post in my drafts, I'll try to save if for some other times instead of bombarding this blog solely with Japanese cuisine at a time)

Back to Miso Japanese Restaurant, the food there is too good not to be missed. I think its better to order a few individual dishes and share among family members rather than ordering a huge set which nobody could finish by themselves.

*p/s: For some reason, either my computer, Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome will suddenly crash. Does this happen to you guys? Or maybe its the Streamyx?
Grilled oysters, a must order for us

Shake Temaki

Can I tempt you with some green tea ice-cream?
Gotcha! It's wasabi.
Pregnant smelt
These tiny fish were filled with ripen fish roe inside, they are usually just grilled until nice and crispy you could eat the whole thing from its head to tail.

Looks horrifying here, but its good.

Salted grill cod
Out of so many different methods of cooking, I prefer my fish rubbed with salt and grilled. I'm not really fond of it coated in sweet sauce. Smooth, luscious flesh with the faint taste of the fish oil and a hint of salt, swoon. Add a squirt of lemon juice, simply but so darn good.
Gyoza
Their Gyoza's are really good, crispy on the outside with generous meat and prawns fillings inside.
Battered deep fried squid
Nicely battered squids, crispy and chewy.
California hand roll

Mentaiko
It looks prettier when served, but we ate it half way before remembering to take a photo. I always wanted to try Mentaiko, this is the first time I did. This is a marinated Pollock roe served on a bed of grated radishes and its salty, you're supposed to eat this with rice, but unfortunately this arrives when all the rice is almost gone, so we couldn't possibly finish it, such a waste. I wanted to ta-pau it, but we're afraid it might not retain its freshness.

Ending with complimentary desserts, as usual

Miso Japanese Restaurant 2

I enjoy going to Miso for dinner, their food are fresh, service quick and efficient. I've been there for at least 3 times since they opened, this is the 2nd time I went. You can read the first post here.
Cold green tea

Hot green tea

Una Jyu RM37.40
Grilled eel with sweet sauce on top of rice and strips of fried eggs.

Grilled Oysters RM27.50
Don't judge an oyster by its appearance. This may not look nice but they taste really really good. Fragrant and juicy.
Shake Teriyaki Jyu RM28.60
Grilled salmon with teriyaki sauce served with rice and onion omelet. The portion is too big and heavy for me to finish.

Miso soup
Shake Teriyaki Course RM66

Salmon sashimi

Fried cabbage and carrots

Teriyaki salmon

Sushi no sashimi course RM63.80

Deep fried prawns

Assorted sushi and sashimi

Cawan Mushi

Uni Sashimi RM49.50
Sea urchin served on a bed of radish strips in a tiny cocktail glass. These sea urchins are small, so-so only.
