Stop animal cruelty

What would you do when you're about to take a long holiday away from home but couldn't bring your pets with you? Normally people would settle their pets with a friend, a relative or perhaps check them into an animal hotel like Petknode for instance. Thinking that it is for the best interest of your pets while you're away, since there are people who are trained to take good care of them...

Who would have known, that the people you paid and entrusted to care for your beloved pets would abandon your trust?
I’m sure you have heard about the recent issue involving Petknode Cat Boarding, Some 300 cats were found dehydrated, starving, covered in their own feces, and worst dead or gone missing under the care of this Pet Hotel during the Hari Raya Holiday not long ago. Petknode, a place offering boarding, 24/7 of good care for cats while owners are away on a holiday, a service like this should allow pet owners to enjoy their time away without worries, don’t you think? These owners certainly thought so.

Imagine coming home from a holiday and find your pet mistreated, malnutrition, sick, abused, hungry, dead or gone missing, despite being promised that your cats will be taken good care of. As a cat owner and animal lover myself, I find this news sickening, upsetting and utterly distressing. Some 300 cats and a dog were shut up in a Pet Hotel over the Hari Raya period and was not given food and water for around 9-10 days, when the place was broken into by volunteers, they find several cats and kittens have died due to lack of water and food. Some Pets has gone missing and their whereabouts are unknown. SPCA was currently sheltering some of the pets until their owners came and reclaim them, the police are also urged to help locate the missing cats to ensure their welfare and safety.

The two owners of Petknode- Shahrul Azuwn and Yushari Khairuddin expressed remorse and guilt over their mismanagement and had apologized for the entire incident. Apologies do not seem sufficient in this case. This is not merely a case of cheating and breach of contract, this is animal cruelty! Read more about it Here, Here, Here and Here. You can also google for more information.

I hope this country have a stricter law against animal cruelty and animal abuse. There are too many people out there who had no respect for animal rights. Join us to fight for animal rights.

(Taken from stopanimalabuse.my, these are their objectives)
We call on the Prime Minister of Malaysia to ensure :
  1. Immediate revision to the current legislation, to increase the penalty from RM200 to RM50,000 and a mandatory jail sentence
  2. That dog-catching is carried out solely by municipal workers under their respective municipalities, who will be held accountable for their actions
  3. The methods employed in catching and transportation will follow 'DVS Humane Guidelines 2008 on Catching and Euthanasia of Stray Dogs'
  4. Stricter enforcement and active prosecution on cases of animal cruelty by the DVS
  5. That all pet owners are encouraged to spay/neuter their pets by adopting differential licensing i.e. cheaper license fees for spay/neutered pets and much higher license fees for unspayed/ unneutered pets" and the promotion of Responsible Pet Ownership
